Tüv Süd World’s First NB for New Machinery Regulation

TÜV SÜD announced it has become the world’s first Notified Body (NB 0123) for the new EU Machinery Regulation 2023/1230 (EU-MR) to appear on the European Commission’s NANDO website as recognized, listed and authorized to perform the special conformity assessment procedures acc. to Article 25 for machinery as set out in Annex I of the new Regulation. This new item of EU harmonization legislation came into force in July 2023, repealing the previous Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC. It sets new standards in safety requirements for machinery and related products. As a Notified Body, TÜV SÜD plays a key role in the implementation of the Machinery Regulation. The testing, inspection and certification (TIC) company offers comprehensive support for manufacturers and other economic operators with respect to implementation of the Regulation and to product testing and certification. TÜV SÜD offers a host of services related to the Machinery Regulation. The new Machinery Regulation represents a key step in building a safe, secure and future-facing industry, offering high levels of protection for users and the environment and helps to maintain Europe’s leading position amid global competition over digital transformation. By addressing AI and cybersecurity, the Regulation establishes the necessary framework for integrating safety and security into innovative design and boosting trust in modern machinery.
