Twin-Tower, Stylish Design for New Düsseldorf Opera House
Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta designed a new Düsseldorf, Germany, opera house topped by a pair of “dancing” mixed-use towers for CENTRUM Group, World Architecture News is among outlets to recently report. Called Duett Düsseldorf, the structure features a four-story component housing the opera house “defined by a stunning sculpted timber interior,” according to ABITARE. Atop this mid-rise structure would be a 6,000-m2 publicly accessible outdoor park accessed via an escalator in the foyer. Above, a pair of glassy towers containing hotel rooms, apartments and offices angle out from one another. Tower heights have not been provided, but renderings suggest they are approximately 30 stories each. Anticipated to become a hub of culture and activity for the German city, Duett Düsseldorf would replace an existing opera house. A construction timeline was not provided.
