Invertek Drives Ltd, based in Welshpool, Wales, U.K., provided its Optidrive elevator variable frequency drive (VFD) to a new panoramic lift at the Municipal Astronomical Park in Criciúma, Brazil. Reaching 30 m high at the top of the Morro Cerchinel mountain, the lift opened in November 2023 and is part of a BRL$4.2 million (US$844,764) project funded by the Brazilian government. The elevator contractor was Panoramico Elevadores, which used Invertek’s Optidrive to control a 7.5 kW (10 hp) permanent magnet gearless motor with 380-V power in an IP20-rated enclosure. “The project had been proposed for some time, and it was important for the lift to operate smoothly and safely from opening day,” says Invertek Head of Latin American Sales Marcus Silva. “The Optidrive was the primary choice for the project due to its reliability and accurate motor control.”
