Urban Elevator Service chose Vantage Elevator Solutions for an eight-elevator modernization it recently completed at the historic Monadnock Building at 53 West Jackson Boulevard in Chicago’s South Loop. When it was completed in 1893, the Monadnock Building was the largest office building in the world and the catalyst for an important new business center for the city. For the elevator modernization, Vantage provided GALaxy IV controllers, MOVFR II harmonic door operators and Hollister-Whitney gearless GL130A machines. “People are still startled by the power and simplicity of [the Monadnock Building’s] design,” according to monadnockbuilding.com. “Some say that modern architecture began with its sweeping curves. The restoration of the Monadnock is a nationally acclaimed melding of historic character and modern technology.” — reported by Freddy Flores, Midwest regional sales manager, Vantage
