Worker Dies in Elevator Shaft Fall in New Taipei

A worker at a construction site in New Taipei’s Xinzhuang District died as a result of falling down an elevator shaft on August 25, Focus Taiwan reports. According to an investigation by local police, the accident occurred when the 50-year-old victim was working on the 15th floor of the site. It is believed that he slipped and fell down the elevator shaft to the fourth underground floor. The New Taipei Labor Affairs Department has enlisted the assistance of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s Northern Occupational Safety and Health Center to help conduct further inspections due to the size of the construction site.
