Developer Sunray Group has proposed a “complete, self-sustaining community” at 22 Metropolitan Road in an industrial area of Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, Urban Toronto reports. The 34,649 m2 site forms an irregular shape, backing into the Highway 401/Warden Avenue interchange. Designed by Z01, the proposed community would include five high-rise towers ranging from 23 to 48 stories and a 12-story mid-rise tower. The community would bring 2,048 residential units and a seniors’ residence, with housing options for varying levels of care. More than 167,610 m2 of gross floor area would provide retail, office and hotel space. Plans include five elevators each for the taller towers and two for the mid-rise. A park and public space are intended to foster a sense of community.
