Pit Flood Protection System

Argus Elevator touts code-compliant Elevator Safety Made SimpleTM.

submitted by Argus Elevator

Argus Elevator, headquartered in Kennesaw, Georgia, offers an intelligent, code-compliant flood protection system that combines the A100-PFD Pit Flood Protector with the A100-PFS Pit Float Switch. Designed to prevent elevator damage and safeguard passengers, the system responds automatically when rising water is detected in the pit. The A100-PFS is a rugged float switch housed in a waterproof enclosure, complete with sealed fittings and liquid-tight conduit. Mounted 6-12 in. above the pit floor, it signals the A100-PFD controller when water triggers the float. In response, the system moves the elevator to a designated safe floor, opens the doors for passenger exit and disables the elevator until it is manually reset by a mechanic — helping reduce equipment damage and service interruptions. Compatible with any elevator controller — whether based on relay logic or serial communications — the A100-PFD features a compact, easy-to-install design and a bright touchscreen interface. The intuitive display shows the status of each input and output using clear, icon-based indicators to simplify setup and diagnostics.

Additional system features include:

  • Touchscreen or keyed reset options
  • Built-in, configurable alarm
  • Capability to trigger additional hall and in-car audible/visible alerts
  • Comprehensive revised wiring prints

Together, the A100-PFD and A100-PFS provide a reliable, no-maintenance solution for protecting elevators from water-related incidents while helping building owners meet safety codes and reduce costly downtime.
