Reaching New Heights

Team Mobility celebrates 100 stairlift installations across India.

submitted by Team Mobility

In a country as vast and diverse as India, mobility remains a challenge for many — especially for the elderly and those living with reduced mobility. One company is quietly transforming this landscape, one staircase at a time.

Team Mobility, India’s premier national distributor of stairlifts, recently marked a significant milestone: 100 successful stairlift installations across the country. From bustling metros like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Ahmedabad and Delhi to quieter towns like Bilaspur, Kota, Ludhiana, Bhopal, Belgaum and Mysore, its mission has remained the same: to make everyday mobility accessible, safe and dignified for those who need it most. “This isn’t just a number, it’s 100 lives transformed and 100 families given peace of mind,” Team Mobility Business Head Shrutika Poojary observed.

A Mobility Device in Every Home That Needs One

Stairlifts have long been a trusted solution in the West, but awareness in India has only recently begun to grow. For elderly individuals or those with knee issues, arthritis or injury-related mobility impairments, navigating stairs can be a daily struggle. Further, not every home is suited for, or capable of, installing a vertical elevator. Poojary explained:

“This is where stairlifts step in. They’re compact, affordable and installable on almost any staircase, making them the perfect solution for multi-story homes where an elevator is impractical.”

The Global Edge: UP, Bruno and Ascendor

Team Mobility represents three global stairlift brands — De-Vi’s UP Stairlifts (Netherlands), Bruno (U.S.) and Ascendor (Austria) — bringing world-class engineering and proven safety standards to Indian homes. Team Mobility Technical Head Zaffar Hasnain said:
“Each of these brands has a unique value proposition. The UP Stairlift is modular and elegant, Bruno is known for rugged durability and Ascendor brings in premium European engineering. We’ve now installed models from all three across India, and the feedback has been consistently excellent. Bringing global quality to Indian homes is not a privilege; it’s our purpose.”

Partners Across India

Team Mobility works through a growing network of regional dealers and mobility partners, enabling them to reach even the most remote corners of the country. Most of the 100 installations were facilitated through these partnerships, and the partners are vocal about their success. Abdul Rehman of Rifuto Elevators, a partner in Chennai, described working with Team Mobility as seamless. “Their stairlifts are reliable, and our clients are genuinely happy,” he said. “More importantly, Team Mobility’s training and technical support empower us to deliver confidently.”

Meena Singh, a dealer in Ludhiana, added that people are now talking about stairlifts in the town — something unheard of only a few years ago. “Team Mobility is not just a supplier,” she said. “They are an enabler.”

Team Mobility Sales Head Saqueeb Reza said India is seeing a cultural shift, with families choosing safety, comfort and dignity for their elders. This often involves providing them with a stairlift.

Equipment users have given positive feedback. Lata V., a 74-year-old Pune woman, said, before she had a stairlift, she hadn’t gone upstairs in nearly six months. Now, she said, “I go to my room, water my plants on the terrace, and even bring down my own tea. It’s a small machine—but it’s given me my life back.”

Aging India Needs Solutions

India is home to more than 140 million elderly citizens, and that number is growing rapidly. With the rise of nuclear families and multi-story independent homes, older adults often find themselves isolated upstairs or trapped downstairs. Reza said:

“Mobility shouldn’t be a privilege. We’re seeing increased awareness, especially post-COVID. Families are actively looking for solutions to help their parents age comfortably in place. We’re here to ensure they have quality options.”

Engineering Meets Empathy

Installing a stairlift is both a technical and emotional process. It’s not just about anchoring equipment to stairs; it’s about restoring freedom, independence and safety. “We’ve had clients cry after their first ride,” Hasnain said. “It’s emotional. Suddenly, they can go upstairs to their bedroom again or down to the garden. Their home becomes whole again.”

Case studies are uplifting for all involved. Fali Palkhivala, director of Team Mobility partner Concord Elevator, shared:

“We recently installed a wheelchair stairlift in an extremely tight and challenging space — something we weren’t sure was even possible. But with Team Mobility’s support, we got it done. The client is overjoyed, and honestly, the equipment itself is stunning — arguably the most beautiful wheelchair lift I’ve seen. It’s truly a world-class product, in both form and function.”

That emotional impact drives Team Mobility’s commitment to precision installation, responsive support and meaningful partnerships. “Our mission is simple: One staircase at a time, we make India more accessible,” Poojary said.

The First 100 — and the Road Ahead

While 100 installations may seem modest in a country of 1.4 billion, it’s a powerful symbol of momentum and awareness. Early installations have laid the foundation for a market that’s waking up to the value of mobility. “We see this as the start of a wave,” Reza said. “These first 100 installations have taught us so much — about customer needs, architectural challenges and how to better support our partners.” The company is now ready to scale up, with a focus on expanding its dealer network, running awareness programs and introducing stairlifts into institutional and healthcare facilities.
