Façade work is progressing on the topped-out superstructure of “Parcel G,” a 34-story tower in Hunters Point South, Queens, NYC, New York YIMBY reported on April 24. Designed by Handel Architects and developed by Gotham Organization, the building will hold 443 residential units, a portion of which will be dedicated to affordable housing. Included will be a lower-level community facility for Flux Factory and for kayak rentals. The site is located by the intersection of Second Street and 56th Avenue. Photographs show progress on the red brick and floor-to-ceiling glass façade, which, as of late April was about three-fourths of the way to the parapet. Residents will have uninterrupted views looking up and down the East River, and of the Midtown and Lower Manhattan skyline. Overall, the project is just a small part of a massive ongoing transformation of Hunters Point South. The project’s Parcel G appears poised to finish toward the end of this year.
