Apartment High Rises Could Replace 1960s Complex in Vegas

Florida East Coast Realty (FECR) of Miami wants to build four 45-story apartment towers and three commercial buildings on the site of a 1962 complex that has been home to former mobsters, topless dancers and other Las Vegas characters, the Las Vegas Journal-Review reported. FECR owns the historic property, The Palms on Sahara Avenue, one mile east of Las Vegas Boulevard at 713 East Sahara Avenue. Despite concerns the Las Vegas market cannot yet support high rents, FECR anticipates that is going to change soon and hopes to break ground by September 2018. The structures would include approximately 1,500 apartments.
