Developers have applied for a variance for demolition of a two-story retail structure at 570 Market Street in San Francisco’s Financial District to make way for a 29-story hotel tower, San Francisco YIMBY reported in July. The project, set to bring 240 guest rooms to the district, is being developed by the Frontier Group, with design by Danny Forster and Architecture (DFA). The demolition request, coming after a shadow study submitted in May, will replace the former building with a 330-ft tower that will total 155,640 ft2 of space, 5,350 ft2 of which will allow ground-level retail and another 4,200 ft2 that will accommodate privately owned public open space, including an outdoor lounge and bar on the 15th floor. Guest amenities will include a fitness center and an outdoor yoga studio deck on the 18th floor. Parking will be included for 17 bicycles and tour buses, but no single-family cars. Construction costs are estimated at US$75 million.
