An electrical panel fire forced the temporary closure of the Collin County, Texas, Courthouse after it shut down use of the building’s vertical transportation (VT), Community Impact reported on October 4. A city official said the fire broke out after the building’s breaker panel overheated and caught fire. Though damage was limited to the panel, it rendered the courthouse’s mechanical equipment, including elevators and escalators, without power. The fire did not result in any injuries. Officials indicated it would take a couple of days to repair the damage.
