India Cruise Terminal To Be Commissioned by July 2024

Cruise ship fans are looking forward to the opening of the elevator-equipped Mumbai, India, International Cruise Terminal, an iconic ocean trip dock coming up at BPX-Indira Dock, The Free Press Journal reports. The project is expected to be completed by July 2024, with total capacity to handle 200 ships and 1 million passengers per year. Out of the total project cost of US$66 million, US$40 million will be incurred by Mumbai Port Authority (MPA), with the remainder funding coming from private operators. The site offers a first-of-its-kind iconic sea cruise terminal with a total construction area of more than 400,000 ft2 that will be connected through 22 elevators, 10 escalators and a multi-level parking building for 300 cars. The dock will be available to two cruise ships at a time. Both domestic and international cruises are expected to participate in the main activity at Mumbai Port in the coming days. Officials say the MPA is laying a special focus on cruise tourism, passenger transportation and ship repair.
