NEII Provides Updates on ASME A17/CSA Code and More

The National Elevator Industry, Inc. (NEII) provided updates on development of ASME A17/CSA B44 code and more in its recent newsletter. The 2022 edition of ASME A17/CSA B44 is scheduled for publication in the fourth quarter of this year, and the A17 Standards Committee and working groups are now reviewing and responding to comments submitted during the public review process. Regarding ICC A117.1, Standard for Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities, the A117 Committee is meeting virtually to review proposed revisions for the next cycle, with a goal of completing the work for publication by the end of 2023. I-Codes Group B committee action hearings were held on March 27 and April 6 to review proposed changes to the International Existing Building Code, International Residential Code and structural requirements of the International Building Code. Committee actions are scheduled to be posted by May 9. Public comments on the Group B proposals are due by June 20. Group A code changes were completed last year. NEII also shared that Alabama adopted the 2021 I-Codes, effective April 14.
