Mitsubishi Electric US, Inc., recently provided a progress report on a trio of towers in downtown Nashville, Tennessee, for which it is providing vertical-transportation (VT) equipment. The Cypress, California-headquartered OEM opened its Nashville office in partnership with developer Giarratana LLC in April 2021 to support the VT work. Elevators will be equipped with the Sigma AI2200C Destination Oriented Allocation System (DOAS®), which works with Mitsubishi Electric’s touch-free elevator call application for smartphones. All taking shape around the Amazon Operations Center of Excellence on Church Street, the towers are the 34-story Alcove at 900 Church Street, slated for completion in 2023; the 41-story Prime at 801 Church Street, for which construction is currently at the fourth floor; and a 60-story addition to the YMCA building, which was just awarded to Mitsubishi Electric US. According to the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, other companies involved in the Goettsch Partners-designed Prime include consultants DeSimone Consulting Engineers, structural; BALA Engineers; Johnson Controls, mechanical, electrical and plumbing; Barge Design Solutions, civil engineering; and AMSYSCO, post-tensioning.
