KONE to Modernize Illinois City Hall Elevator

The Edwardsville Illinois Administrative and Community Service (ACS) has approved a sole source resolution to authorize KONE to modernize the City Hall elevator and a second such resolution for related electrical work, The Edwardsville Intelligencer reports. After almost 30 years, the building’s sole elevator has become increasingly unreliable and outdated, according to public works officials, and repair and replacement parts are becoming obsolete. The elevator portion of the work will cost US$114,507, and J.F. Electric will update the electrical system for US$31,175. Pending city council approval, the work would be done next year and take three weeks to complete. There is a public staircase in the building’s northwest corner for access to the second floor from the lobby, but there is no other ADA access to the second level while the elevator work is going on. KONE has performed all of the inspections and maintenance on the elevator and is familiar with the system.
