At 677 ft — 43 ft taller than First National Bank Tower — Mutual of Omaha’s new headquarters in downtown Omaha, Nebraska, will be the tallest in the city upon completion in 2026, Omaha World-Herald reports. Bound by Douglas, Farnham 14th and 15th streets on a plot of land that was for decades home to Omaha’s main library, the US$600-million, 44-story skyscraper is set to begin construction in January 2022. Demolition on the library was underway on October 21. A team that includes the city, Lanoha Real Estate; architects HOK, Pickard Chilton and Kendall/Heaton Associates: Alvine Engineering; and general contractor JE Dunn Construction Group is working with Mutual of Omaha to create a new beacon for downtown that boasts a sky lobby, two floors of amenities, a two-story atrium at the top, conference rooms and a public street-level lobby that pays homage to the company’s history and impact.
