Bengaluru Lift Accident Leaves One Dead, Four Injured

One person has died and four more were injured when an elevator collapsed from the fourth floor of a commercial building in the Peenya Industrial Area 4th Phase in Bengaluru, India, the Deccan Herald reports. Police learned about the incident after a private hospital sent them a medica-legal case report about the death and the injuries. The deceased was a resident of Chamundeshwari Nagar in Laggere and was 28 years old. The injured were treated for fractures to the hands and legs. The elevator at the center of the incident is regularly used to transport staff and stock. According to the source, the accident happened while transporting stock to the fourth floor; the wire rope snapped, and the elevator car fell from the fourth floor to the ground floor. A senior officer said a case has been taken against the persons concerned under the IPC Section 304A, which is causing death by negligence.
