In Memoriam: Dr. Gina Barney

Lift Industry News announced that Dr. Gina Barney, “a remarkable engineer, researcher and leader in the lift industry,” passed away on July 6. The U.K.-based Barney authored 23 books and countless papers to establish and maintain her position as a leading expert in the vertical-transportation (VT) industry. She was a key member of industry organizations including BSI Group’s MHE/4 lift committee and the Lifts Group of the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers. In addition, she led VT consultancy Gina Barney Associates. Extending its “heartfelt condolences to her family and friends,” Lift Industry News observed that Dr. Barney’s “exceptional commitment and hard work were unmatched, and her absence will be strongly felt.”
