Thöny Passes CEDES CEO Role to Bass

After a successful 10 years as CEDES CEO, Christian-Erik Thöny has passed the role to Patrick Bass, previously head of CEDES Internet of Things (IoT) business development since September 2021, the Switzerland-based sensor specialist announced on August 15. Bass spent 21 years with TK Elevator and Thyssenkrupp AG, involved in elevator service, sales and R&D. At Thyssenkrupp North America, Bass served as chief technology officer and, ultimately, CEO.  During his 10 years as CEDES CEO, Thöny successfully guided the company to a new level of leanness and efficiency. Highlights include launching two new subsidiaries, introducing a new generation of 3D sensors, positioning CEDES as a market leader for industrial door safeguarding with the acquisition of VITECTOR and, most recently, kicking off the company’s IoT journey. Thöny will remain with CEDES through the transition until the end of 2023. In 2024, he will retain his ties to the company as president of the board, member of the advisory board and special projects consultant.
