Funds Transferred To Aid in Wisconsin Elevator Project

The Washington County Public Works Committee recently approved two resolutions, one for a relocation order related to County Trunk Highway M and the other for a general fund transfer for elevator construction at the Herbert J. Tennies Government Center in Wisconsin, the Washington County Daily News reports. The original elevator was built in 1960 and has experienced several recent outages. The general fund transfer is for US$425,000, according to the committee report, and the elevator construction is part of the Master Plan, which was approved in May by the County Board. The County Board approved US$625,000 for the elevator project, and the lowest bid of four bids received was US$942,940. Additional project costs brought its total budget to US$1.25 million, according to the committee report. According to the source, US$200,000 of these funds were initially for an LED light project in 2024, which had been delayed from 2023. The resolution included delaying the 2024 LED light project again to use the US$200,000 for the elevator construction. To cover the difference between the US$1.25 million project budget and the US$825,000, a general fund transfer of $425,000 was required.
