India’s EECMAI Elects Officers

The India-based Elevator & Escalator Component Manufacturers’ Association (EECMAI) elected officers on October 6 at the Hotel Ramada Plaza in Hinjewadi, Pune, India. Hiren Panchal of Apson Motor (India) Pvt. Ltd. was elected vice president; Anurag Gupta of Arkel Electronic India Pvt. Ltd., secretary; and Jainam Delivala of Rolliflex Cables Pvt. Ltd., joint secretary. Additionally, Gupta became membership director for the EECMAI Membership Committee. EECMAI was formed in September 2020 with the aim of making India “self-reliant” and a dependable global market hub for elevator and escalator (E&E) components. Despite India being the second-largest elevator market in the world, its contribution to the global components market is less than 30%, and there is ample opportunity to expand quality component exports. EECMAI President Suraj Thodimarath of Wittur observed that “India is well-placed to emerge as an alternate global powerhouse for manufacturing E&E components that comply with international standards of safety and performance.”
