Schindler Providing 338 Units to Xiang’an International Airport

Schindler announced on February 5 it is providing 76 passenger and freight elevators, 100 escalators and 62 moving walks to the new Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport taking shape on Dadeng Island in the southeastern Chinese province of Fujian. To become the region’s main airport, Xiamen Xiang’an International Airport is projected to serve 62 million passengers and 1 million t of cargo annually by 2030 and 85 million passengers and 2 million t of cargo annually by 2040, according to its operator. With a 550,000-m2 main terminal and almost 200 aircraft parking bays, the airport was designed by star architect Cui Kay with an upward-curving roof that resembles a swallow’s tail. Its interior focuses on efficiency, with the farthest boarding gate only 640 m from the security area. “Our elevators, escalators and moving walks will help make the airport efficient and passenger-friendly,” Schindler China Director of Sales Chengyun Zhu said.
