Hyundai and Kia Robotics Lab have unveiled the DAL-e Delivery robot, geared toward indoor food/beverage and parcel delivery and set to debut in the second quarter of this year at the IGIS Asset Management Factorial Seongsu smart office in Seoul, South Korea, New Atlas reports. Hyundai signed a business agreement with IGIS, the largest real estate investment firm I n South Korea, last spring to develop robot-friendly buildings, outlets including The Korea Economic Daily previously reported. Based on a robot introduced at the end of 2022, the DAL-e Delivery robot features Hyundai “Plug & Drive” modules with enhanced suspension to minimize jostling. The unit can hold up to 16 cups of coffee or packages weighing up to 10 kg, and travels at up to 1.2 m/s. Like the previous version, this robot interfaces wirelessly with a building’s smart system to call an elevator. A camera and AI assess the number of occupants in an elevator to determine whether the robot can enter. According to Hyundai and Kia, the robot can also interface with elevator and door-control systems in modern, smart buildings.
