The International Union of Elevator Constructors (IUEC), headquartered in Columbia, Maryland, endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for president in the 2024 election, with IUEC General President Frank J. Christensen issuing a July 25 statement that outlined Harris’ support of blue-collar jobs. “On behalf of our union’s more than 31,000 members, endorsing Harris, who has been a key figure in the most pro-union, pro-worker administration in our lifetime, is the right choice,” Christensen said. With Harris in the White House, an “economy that works for working people” will be preserved, he said, noting that the Biden-Harris Administration has prioritized the creation of well-paying union jobs through legislation including the Inflation Reduction Act and the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. “A Harris White House would protect and expand federal infrastructure investments, support workers’ rights to form or join a union and fight against low-road contractors,” Christensen said.
