IAEC-NY’s first visit to Guastavino’s in New York City was a hit.

The New York Region of the International Association of Elevator Consultants (IAEC-NY) held its 25th Annual Fundraiser on August 23. This year’s iteration was held at the Guastavino’s event venue, located under the 59th Street Bridge in New York City. Fortunately, the weather was beautiful, and guests were able to enjoy the beautiful courtyard, while listening to smooth jazz. When the sun finally set, the real party began. The NYC Swing Band performed a variety of songs for our 250 guests to dance to and enjoy. The band was a welcome change from the DJs of years’ past and added elegance to the event.

As in past years, Grandstand Sports & Memorabilia held both live and silent auctions throughout the evening to help increase the fundraiser momentum. Some of the items purchased in the auction were a trip to Costa Rica, a Marilyn Monroe quote, a New York Yankees suite, a Steve Jobs tribute and American flag. We are very grateful that the industry once again participated in raising money — nearly US$10,000 — for IAEC-NY.

The venue provided a beautiful ambiance both inside and out, with colorful columns that changed throughout the evening and had the IAEC logo projected on them. The food was delicious, with a selection including a wide variety of choices, such as jumbo lump crab cakes; grilled scallops on crisps; quinoa with mango relish; a carving station; an Italian station; an American comfort station; and display of cakes and pies, such as red velvet cake with ice cream, New York cheesecake and key lime pie. Two large bars served the event all night with various drink specials for guests to enjoy.

Special thanks to Alani Peart from Lift-Tech, who organized, planned and coordinated the event. We could not have had such a beautiful event without all of her hard work.

Great feedback was given from the guests, saying they loved the new venue, great food, drinks and spirits.

We are so thankful to be able to host this event annually and to have the industry join us and raise money for IAEC-NY.
