A Huge Family Gathering

Each ANACAM general assembly is of great excitement to me. The 51st of these meetings, which are always organized in a magnificent region of Italy, was held at Giardini Naxos in beautiful, hospitable Sicily on June 16-18. It was an excellent meeting in terms of the event itself and the content of the presentations.

The 51st National Assembly of ANACAM began with an opening speech by President Andrea Codebò on the afternoon of June 16. Codebò expressed his thanks to the ANACAM team, which put their signatures to many successful events despite the global difficulties experienced due to three years of COVID-19 and the current Russia- Ukraine war. He also stated that the association has welcomed 111 new members, bringing total membership to 430. He shared the schedule for the regional meetings and their locations over the next two years, with the next meeting to be held in Campania on September 29.

The ANACAM report was then read by Secretary General Roberto Corradini. The audit report for the 2021 financial statement and the 2022 budget were presented and voted upon. Michele Mazzarda, the president of ANACAM Service, shared the performance report.

The event started with a speech by the European Federation for Elevator Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (EFESME)’s president, Massimo Bezzi, and Policy Advisor Elettra Bilibio, who presented not only EFESME’s activities at the political level, but also its good relations with the European Commission – DG Grow, and the many consultations to which the Federation has responded, as well as the many initiatives carried out with its European partners, Small Business Standards (SBS) and SMEunited.

Then, Giuseppe Iotti took to the floor and introduced his new book, “Ascensori, Energia, Ambiente,” (“Elevators, Energy, Environment”) published by ANACAM. Iotti, who is an expert for the Association on energy efficiency and environmental issues, also provided information about ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certification, stating it is a new and important issue for the elevator industry as it addresses environmental issues and evaluates the sustainability of elevator installations throughout their life cycle.

At the coffee break, participants had B2B meetings and visited the event sponsors’ booths. The first day ended with a magnificent dinner at La Cambusa restaurant on the Giardini Naxos beach. Guests were treated to Italian cuisine, a beautiful sunset and the pleasure of being together after a long hiatus.

Second Day

The General Assembly’s second day began with a presentation on ANACAM’s social responsibility projects presented by Dante Pozzoni. Then, interlift Project Manager Joachim Kalsdorf and interlift’s representative for Southern Europe presented information about interlift 2022’s results and the upcoming 2023 event.

A session on “Occupational safety in the elevator systems sector” followed with presentations about:

  • “Information on the notification of temporary works to INAIL” by Anacam executive director Luca Incoronato,
  • “Main requirements for the safety of interventions on existing and under construction lift systems” by Paolo Tattoli and
  • “Fulfillments and contracts for subcontracting” by Costanza Nucci.

Piero Mosanghini and Luca Incoronato presented on incentives given for state-sponsored building renovations, including elevator modernizations, which has a huge impact on the Italian elevator sector after the COVID-19 pandemic. Speakers gave detailed information about the government incentive mechanism, which reaches up to 50%, 75% and 110% of the expenses beared by owners based on the different incentive scheme.
