Elevator rope and technology company BRUGG Lifting will take advantage of this year’s Interlift 2022, held in April in Augsburg, Germany, to promote new products and services, the company announces.

New Products

With increasing demand for more modern, high-performing elevators, manufacturers are challenged to innovate while reducing costs and guaranteeing safety. In answer, BRUGG Lifting is launching several new products in the coming months. The first is the company’s new 10 mm Coated Traction Product (CTP), the only device of its kind on the market. This large-diameter CTP rope is designed to help elevator manufacturers develop lighter-weight, longer-lasting elevators for a wider range of applications. The coated technology and self-contained lubrication system allows for higher-capacity cabins, smoother rides and reduced wear, while requiring minimal maintenance. The result is reduced elevator weight and costs while maintaining the breaking load and increasing the elevator’s lifespan of the elevator.

The new rope weighs less than 300 g/m, helping reduce rope weight by as much as 30%, compared to conventional ropes. It has a minimum breaking load of 52 kN (kilonewton) and can be applied on a 20:1 sheave diameter of 200 mm with an expected lifespan of 4.8 million bending cycles.

The new product expands BRUGG’s portfolio of coated products, conventional ropes and belts. In addition to providing the new products, BRUGG connects its customers to a network of partner suppliers of motors, drives and other materials for an end-to-end solution. Also expanding the CTP range is BRUGG’s new BRUbelt line of flat, high-strength belt products. Using the same coating technology as the CTP ropes, three new belts will soon be available for material-handling equipment, elevators and conveyors. The BRUbelt also will provide maximum dynamic strength and be available in customized designs. The new belts combine high-strength steel strands and high-tech polymers, which allow manufacturers to create innovative drive systems within the smallest possible space. Compared to conventional steel cables, BRUbelt offers higher load-bearing capacity with a reduced metallic cross-section. As an alternative to chains and wire rope hoist systems, the belts offer manufacturers a maintenance-free, cost- and space-saving solution for a range of applications. The belts will be produced on BRUGG’s new BEMA5 production line, which features bespoke technology developed in-house.

New Services

In addition to new products, BRUGG Lifting aims to increase customers’ capacity for innovation by sharing knowledge and expertise. To help customers stay competitive in an ever-changing industry, the company offers training to customers to build their skills and expertise around key technologies. In the past, these trainings have been on-site and in-person.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, BRUGG offered more virtual support that could be scaled to help even more customers. To meet this need, the company is launching its new BRUdashboard, an online customer support platform that includes its BRUtraining tutorial series. This new digital platform combines customer service, training and community to give customers a new way to build technical skills and do business, regardless of time or location. The first training in the tutorial series focuses on CTP, including topics that focus on installation, maintenance and troubleshooting. It gives customers easy-to-use, cost-effective, personalized trainings to improve their technical skills and expertise around this important technology.

The trainings are continuously updated to include the latest products so that customers have the information they need, when they need it. BRUtraining portal also offers confirmation for key technical skills so customers can become certified BRUGG Lifting partners in CTP technology. With access to a community of lifting partners and BRUGG Lifting’s own experts, elevator manufacturers can get the support they need, as well as an opportunity to learn from and share with other players in the lifting industry.

BRUGG Lifting is a global manufacturer of elevator ropes, architectural ropes, wire ropes and lashing and lifting gear. The company has more than 125 years of group history, three production sites and multiple distribution centers in Europe, North America and Asia. BRUGG also has a range of innovative digital services, and partners with elevator manufacturers around the world.
