Over the last decades, Bruno has evolved into a premier stairlift manufacturer in North America thanks to an unwavering focus on creating high-quality products and maintaining exceptional customer support. As Bruno has expanded into the U.K., Europe and, soon, India, the formula remains the same. Bruno Chief Executive Officer and President Mike Bruno said:

“It’s all about understanding what is important to the customer and meeting those needs. What is important to a customer may differ by country and region, but understanding what is important to the customer is what brings success.”

Ensuring consistent, quality products is another integral element of Bruno’s ethos. “People know Bruno stairlifts are reliable. We also pay a lot of attention to maintaining open space on the steps when designing our lifts,” explained Bruno.

Continuous improvement is woven throughout Bruno processes to ensure enhancements are captured in new product design. Bruno is ISO 9001 certified, an international standard that recognizes that Bruno is committed to standards of workmanship that are repeatable and documented in a quality management system to verify strong processes and product quality.

Bruno is entering the Indian market through an exclusive partnership with House of Mobility. House of Mobility serves as a platform representing global brands in the mobility sector, specifically focusing on chair and platform stairlifts. Gilles Candotti, managing director, Bruno Europe, said:

“With respect to India, as life expectancy rises and medical advancements contribute to enhanced healthcare, there is a growing need to address the challenges faced by elderly individuals in maintaining an independent and comfortable lifestyle. One such challenge is the difficulty posed by staircases, which can become a hindrance for seniors with reduced mobility. In response to this evolving demographic trend, the demand for chair stairlifts will witness a noteworthy surge.

“Our specialized mobility devices offer a practical solution by providing a safe and efficient means for the elderly to navigate multi-story homes, fostering independence and ensuring a higher quality of life for the aging population in India.”

House of Mobility will serve as the pan-India importer and distributor of Bruno products and will leverage Bruno as their primary stairlift brand, and Bruno will be spotlighted among all the mobility products they will be offering.

“We’re excited about our partnership with House of Mobility. It creates a good foundation for us to build upon over time. Developing local representation aligns with a sustainable plan for growth and success,” noted Bruno.

Launched in 1984 by the late Mike Bruno Sr., Bruno remains family owned and operated. Mike Bruno II has guided the company for nearly 20 years, and the third generation of Bruno family members are now active in the business.

Through the years, Bruno has witnessed, and actively participated in, the evolution of the mobility industry. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed in 1990. As more people became aware of the needs of people with mobility challenges, Bruno grew alongside the wave of awareness. Bruno said:

“ADA heightened the awareness of people with mobility needs and related solutions, and our business grew along with the ADA. The mobility industry has matured and become more professional over the years. However, taking care of someone’s needs is still at the core of what we do in this industry.”

Awareness of people with mobility challenges and finding solutions for their needs is more than just a business for Mike Bruno — it’s also personal since he has a daughter with limited mobility. He has experienced firsthand how the ADA positively impacted his daughter’s inclusion and access, and Bruno products are found throughout his home. He said:

“Having a family member with mobility challenges has given me personal insight into how people with limited mobility use our products. We’re connected to the community of people with mobility challenges both as a family and a business.”

All Bruno products are sold, installed and serviced by local dealers. Because dealers are the “face” of Bruno in the local market, Bruno is thoughtful in choosing dealers who share similar values to ensure a consistent, strong brand experience.

Bruno’s core values revolve around customer focus, performance, integrity and people:

  • Customer focus, meaning quickly responding to current needs and anticipating future ones.
  • Performance, as demonstrated by continuous improvement, setting measurable goals and holding one another accountable in reaching those goals.
  • Integrity, building an environment of trust and honoring commitments.
  • People, maintaining a professional, caring, respectful work environment.

While the dealers provide local market intelligence about emerging trends to Bruno, Bruno, in turn, works hard to ensure the dealers receive highly responsive support, training and other resources. That combination allows both Bruno and the dealers to grow and thrive together.

Bruno believes that staying true to corporate values and choosing the right local partners will translate to success in different markets around the globe. He said:

“We are always focused on the customer, and we won’t compromise our standards. That ultimately brings success. When we produce quality products, stay customer focused and perform well individually and in groups, it will keep us successful.”

House of Mobility will be formally introducing their Bruno partnership at the Smart Lift and Mobility World Expo in Bengaluru in March.
