At a June press conference at the Helnan Landmark Hotel in New Cairo, Egypt, INTRADA Exhibitions announced the sixth edition of the Cairo Liftech Show, planned on February 29-March 2, 2024, at the Egypt International Exhibition Center in New Cairo. In attendance at the press conference were representatives of major elevator companies operating in Egypt, consultancies, inspection companies, chambers of commerce and export organizations.

Egyptian elevator companies proposed establishing the Egyptian Elevator Association (EEA) to promote education, support local manufacturing, enhance exports and increase investment. In addition, in partnership with INTRADA, the EEA aims to launch LIFTECH TODAY magazine “to be the voice of the Egyptian industry and a window to the regional and international markets, and to build an awareness campaign for elevator users in the Egyptian market.” The first edition of the bimonthly magazine is scheduled to debut in March 2024.

The press event encouraged attendees to attend the show — billed as a key meeting point for elevator manufacturers, installation companies and commercial agencies — to discuss current topics and solutions. The end goal of the show, the EEA and the magazine is to improve the vertical-transportation (VT) sector in Egypt and support the Egyptian VT industry.

EEA

Egyptian elevator companies in attendance at the press event were receptive to the idea of establishing EEA, which would mark a positive development in the Egyptian VT sector and serve as an official platform for the industry. EEA promises to become the official voice for specialized companies operating in the Egyptian elevator sector. The association seeks to improve the education of engineers and technicians in the elevator sector, vocational and technical qualifications, the international and media presence of the Egyptian elevator industry, local manufacturing and investment/export opportunities for the elevator industry.

Discussions were held about how to activate and enhance specifics of Egyptian elevator sector law, which strives to bring the standards of inspection, safety, security and quality to an internationally recognized and respected level. Also discussed was the qualitative and quantitative construction boom in Egypt, which enhances the role and importance of VT, as well as the impetus for taking the first step toward forming the EEA.

With the support of government authorities and the media, Egyptian VT companies and consultants said there is a need to establish the EEA. Attendees had the following recommendations:

  • The media role: The EEA would support and partner with INTRADA Exhibitions, organizer of the Cairo Liftech Show, to launch LIFTECH TODAY magazine to serve as the voice of the Egyptian VT industry. The media would also help build an awareness campaign for elevator users within the Egyptian market.
  • Accredited education and training: The EEA would support accredited education and qualification programs, and create platforms and partnerships with technological universities, schools and technical institutes in Egypt and internationally.
  • Trade and exports: The EEA aims to enhance the international presence of the Egyptian VT industry to support trade and exports, and to organize trade missions to and from African and Middle Eastern countries.
  • Elevator law: The companies also discussed the importance of activating elevator law in Egypt to maximize inspection and safety procedures and find ways to optimize efficiency of preparation, delivery and maintenance of all elevators in Egypt.
  • Industry, export and investment opportunities: Many investment opportunities are available in the Egyptian market. Discussion revolved around how to create new partnerships aimed at localizing the Egyptian VT industry and open new markets for export in Africa and the Middle East, while providing accredited bodies to support Egyptian innovations and products according to international standards, tests and certificates.

Your author presented the main pillars of the sixth edition of the Cairo Liftech Show, which he described as a “pioneering exhibition” and the first in the region. International participation promises to buoy prospects. In addition to participants from Egypt, Türkiye, China, Switzerland, Germany, India and Italy, the upcoming show — for the first time — will welcome participants from Spain, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the U.A.E., which reflects the importance of the exhibition.

At the Cairo Liftech Show, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly, the Ministries of Industry and Housing, a number of African ministries of industry, engineering chambers and international elevator associations invite all interested parties to take part in more than three days of specialized discussions and panels. Scheduled to present their companies’ ideas and the latest VT technology are consultants, architects and international speakers.

The Cairo Liftech Show will welcome the largest number of international buyers from the African market, which has not been witnessed in any similar exhibition in the region, through the Egyptian commercial representation offices, private offices and the Export Division of the General Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce.

The show also has the largest investment in terms of its advertising budget, which is the largest of any exhibition organized for the elevator sector in Egypt, Africa and the Middle East, as well as through companies with major international platforms specialized locally in various important sectors of the elevator and escalator industry.

Business RoI

The exhibition seeks to deliver an impressive return on investment (RoI) for participating companies before, during and after the show, and to shed light on exhibitors practically and scientifically to maximize benefit for all partners in its sixth session. In partnership with the EEA and with the inaugural issue of LIFTECH TODAY to debut in March 2024 with six annual issues, the Egyptian, African and Middle Eastern VT markets promise to be enriched through exploration of major important topics at the Cairo Liftech Show.
