Calexa Elevator Software

Calexa-Elevator-Software

The Institute for Vertical Transportation (IVT) has released software for calculation and examination of lift design and safety. CALEXA® is intended for consultants, designers, installers, supervisors, Notified Bodies and inspectors complying with the EN 81-1 and 81-2, and VDI 4707-1. New installations or modernizations for 1:2, 2:1, 3:1 or 4:1 traction lifts; direct or indirect, one-to-two-cylinder, side or central hydraulic lifts; and machine-room-less lifts are supported.  Red and green accuracy signalization shows the level of compliance with lift legislation, the analysis of which takes only a few seconds. Furthermore, users can choose standard guide rails and steel ropes from a preset database or define custom values.

For more information, contact IVT at e-mail: info@ivt.hr or website: www.ivt.hr, where a free demonstration version of the software can be downloaded.

High-Performance Logic Controller

Horner Automation Group has launched its XL7, the newest addition to its XL OCS series. The product is intended to provide OEMs, integrators and automation end users with a powerful, high-performance logic controller and enhanced connectivity. The XL7 was designed around a high-resolution, wide-aspect-ratio 7-in. wide-video-graphics-array color touchscreen with high brightness. It is designed for high outdoor visibility and allows the XL7 to be used in a variety of ambient applications. The backlit LED display enables high pixel resolution, granting end users the capability to view more in-depth information on screen.

The XL7 contains a powerful logic engine with built-in digital and analog input/output (I/O) for online programming. Other features are two 500-kHz high-speed counters and dual 10/100 Ethernet ports, intended to add flexibility when linking to factory networks like Modbus/TCP and Ethernet/IP, while performing such standard functions as web serving, e-mail and file-transfer-protocol support.

The XL7’s dual Controller Area Network (CAN) ports can aid in putting applications in motion. One port utilizes CsCAN for distributed plug-and-play I/O across 500 m. Another provides support for CANopen and J1939 for mobile applications. Designers made the XL7 to combine the X-product family functionality with the speed and graphics capability of a 10-in. controller. The product also provides customers with USB 2.0 ports for programming and flash-drive support, and 32-GB microSD™ slot for data logging.

Compact Photoelectric Sensors With Bgs

Carlo Gavazzi Inc. has launched a new range of background suppression (BGS) photoelectric sensors in its existing PA18 and PH18 housings. It allows for precise distance detection and fine distinction between a target and its background. The detection principle is based on an active-pixel-sensor CMOS array consisting of 64 X 1 sensors, where each pixel represents a specific position of the detected object. This offers an accurate sensing distance regardless of object color.

The sensors have also been designed to avoid false detection caused by lighting or electromagnetic interference, thus reducing system maintenance and increasing the application uptime. Furthermore, thanks to a spherical lens design, the products have a long sensing distance. They can withstand water pressure up to 100 bar, cleaning agents and disinfectants. They also comply with ECOLAB and IP68/69K wash-down approval requirements. They are also Conformité Européene-marked and cULus approved according to UL508. Technical specifications include:

  • Sensing range: 200 mm
  • Power supply: 10-30 VDC
  • Output current rating: 100 mA
  • Output voltage drop: 2 VDC at 100 mA
  • Two outputs (normally open and normally closed), available for NPN or PNP outputs
  • Short-circuit, reverse polarity and overload protection
  • Temperature range: -25°C to +60°C
