Colorful Escalators in the Capital

Carrying out maintenance and repair services of elevators and escalators that have completed their economic lives or are out of service, Ankara Metropolitan Municipality has launched a new project. The Department of Urban Aesthetic started lighting the escalators with colorful LED lights in order to make the city safer and to bring an aesthetic outlook.

With the aim of making the escalators more visible and to maintain pedestrian safety, the Metropolitan Municipality hopes to prevent accidents that may occur at dark. At the first stage, LED lights have been installed on eight escalators, including the ones in Havaş, Anadolu Boulevard, Mehmet Akif Ersoy District and Osmanlı Family Life Center. Then, more LED lights will be used at 30 different locations.

The teams from the Department of Urban Aesthetic, which continue maintenance and repair of pedestrian interchanges on a 24/7 basis, do not interrupt cleaning, washing and disinfection works.
