“Cotton Candy” Elevator

Fujitec, the Japan-headquartered global vertical-transportation OEM that operates 10 global production facilities around the world, in 2023 held an in-house illustration contest with the theme “The Future of Elevators or Escalators That You Dream.” The top prize went to the child of a Fujitec Vietnam engineer, who titled their work “Fluffy-Cloud Elevator.” The young applicant said she drew herself riding a “soft elevator that is fluffy like cotton candy.” In the illustration, she says, “I will be going up to the sky to play there.” A contest juror said they were impressed by the applicant’s imagination and use of bright colors, elaborating:

“I feel the elevator is moving freely regardless of day or night. Inside the elevator, a rainbow and the Moon are drawn. I think that passengers would feel happiness every time they rode on such an elevator. In the future, an elevator that’s like a cloud with fluffy materials may appear.”
