Eaton’s PM3 Module

Eatons-PM3-Module

Eaton Corp. has expanded its circuit-protection product offering with the PM3 power monitoring and metering module. The device monitors the power of branch and main-circuit applications, while measuring cur-rent and voltage. In addition, the PM3 calculates power and energy usage, and provides breaker status. It is de-signed to work with Eaton Series G® L-Frame and Series C® K-Frame molded-case circuit breakers.

An Underwriters Laboratories®-listed, add-on communication device, the PM3 module can be mounted to the load side of three-pole Series G LG and Series C KD breaker frames. Regardless of whether the trip unit is thermal-magnetic or electronic, the PM3 can be adapted to applications where monitoring is critical. It can also be installed in reverse-feed ap-plications with reverse-fed breakers. Measurement accuracy is within 2%of the reading.

The PM3 enables real-time monitoring, metering and communication of phase current and voltage with real and reactive calculated power and energy, making it easier for customers to detect potential power concerns. The PM3 power monitoring and metering module communicates via the Incom™ protocol. It is compatible with Eaton® Power Xpert® Gateway (PXG) for webpage and Ethernet capability and is able to communicate to the web or Modbus TCP/IP through any Eaton PXG.

Available in two versions, the 480-V PM3 module operates in 208 to 480-V applications and includes an integral power supply. The 600-V-model operates in 208 to 600-V- applications and requires 24-VDC auxiliary power.
