Dear Readers of Elevator World Turkey,
The pandemic that we have experienced over the last two years seems to have existed for much longer. Following the first cases in countries, the disease showed a rapid spread, and we met closings and quarantines. As you may remember, events, exhibitions and meetings were postponed for 2-3 months at that time. However, the process took longer than expected, and events were postponed several times. With the start of the vaccination process, COVID became an inseparable part of our lives. Consequently, events and journeys started with masks and social distancing rules as our new normal.
Some international events took place in autumn. First, we attended the conference held in Kremenchuk, Ukraine. The most remarkable thing I noticed about the conference was that it was as interesting and intensive as it had been before the outbreak. As far as I observed and heard, everyone had become highly bored of working from home and attending online meetings. People want to travel, talk to each other and do business face-to-face.
As interlift was postponed to April 2021, organizers AFAG Messen and VFA held Lift Experts’ Day on the week of interlift. Some figures and statistics about interlift were shared at the event, which I attended as a guest and speaker. One of the most remarkable points here was that our country was among the first three in terms of number of participants. Turkey was behind China and Spain, before but took place in the first three, thanks to its steady growth. This source of pride indicates that our country is one of the most important global players in the elevator industry.
In this issue, we focus on Cabin Design and Aesthetics, which appeals to the end-user and is the only field where art speaks in the elevator industry. You may read articles authored by Erol Akçay, Lee Gray, Fatma Doğan, Michael Davies and Dr. P.J.B. Scott.
Additionally, you may see the cabins by various manufacturers, and new products under the title “Showcase.”
The Photo Contest, organized by Elevator World annually and featured in the last issue of the year, is again full of distinguishing images.
Kağan Gürkan (Ake Asansör) from Turkey took both first and third place with two photographs, and made us proud with both his magnificent artistic photography and the complexion he put on them. You may see the winning photographs in this issue and also on the Elevator World website.
I wish a healthy and prosperous new year to all our esteemed readers and our companies that represent our industry all over the world and struggle with global sourcing problems and high costs.
