Elevator Engineering Theory & Practice

Elevator Engineering Theory & Practice

A fundamental and detailed treatment of electric elevator engineering topics

Elevator industry veteran Rajaraman Krishnan offers comprehensive coverage of the engineering aspects of electric elevators in his book, Elevator Engineering Theory & Practice. Over the course of 678 pages, Krishnan considers the wide application and specification range of elevators in various types of buildings, presenting a clear outline of elevator components, systems and installation processes. Supplemental illustrations, graphs and tables, as well as examples relating to practical issues, contribute to the book’s readability. Acknowledging that safety in the elevator environment is of utmost importance, Krishnan offers a detailed explanation of safety practices, mainly referring to European Standard EN 81 and Indian Standard IS 14665. Means for rescue and the associated procedures are also thoroughly discussed. Both accessible and interesting, the book was reviewed by several of Krishnan’s former KONE colleagues.

Elevator Engineering Theory & Practice is divided into seven units, each having several subsections. Topics include:

  • Unit 1. Basics of elevator systems
  • Unit 2. Elevator mechanical components
  • Unit 3. Elevator electrical systems
  • Unit 4. Elevator safety standards
  • Unit 5. Engineering of elevator systems 1. Analysis and calculations
  • Unit 6. Engineering of elevator systems 2. Layouts and system design
  • Unit 7. Elevator installation practices

Ideal for both students and practicing engineers, Elevator Engineering Theory & Practice is sold as a digital download at Elevator Books.
