Casino Celebrates Amenities, Including Revamped Elevators

Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, New Jersey, held a first-anniversary celebration that included a ribbon-cutting for new amenities, including a pair of service elevators that were converted into public elevators, The Press of Atlantic City reported in June. The Ocean, formerly the Revel Casino, welcomed guests for the celebration, which included tours of the new amenities. In addition to the elevators, management showed off a new wine store, lounge and other improvements, including knocking down a wall on the Boardwalk.

A spokesperson for the Ocean told ELEVATOR WORLD the elevators were formerly back-of-house service units. Otis remodeled them with all-new cab interiors, including walls, floors and lighting, and reconfigured the controller to block access to non-public floors. The improvements were a hit with guests. “It seems that they’re turning it around,” visitor Greg Murphy told the source. “There’s a good crowd here for Thursday afternoon.” The Ocean opened in the summer of 2018, some four years after its predecessor, Revel, closed. The facility includes the tallest building in Atlantic City.

Permits Filed for Jersey City Mixed-Use Tower

A developer has filed permit submissions with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) for work on a proposed skyscraper in Jersey City, New Jersey, New York YIMBY reported in June. Kushner Cos. plans to build 30 Journal Square, an 841-ft-tall mixed-use building at the corner of Slip and Bergen avenues, a site the company purchased for nearly US$3.6 million in 2013.

The company’s website said the tower, which is being designed by Morris Adjmi Architects, will have 741 residential units, 15,000 ft2 of retail space and nearly 100,000 ft2 of office space. The hilltop building will give tenants views of downtown Jersey City as well as Lower and Midtown Manhattan. The Journal Square PATH trains are a five-min walk away. The FAA filing indicates work on the building would commence in December 2019 and wrap in December 2022.

Renderings Reveal 41-Story Jersey City Residential Tower

Construction is expected to begin soon on a 41-story residential tower in the works for decades, at 184 Morgan Street, or 331 Marin Boulevard (EW, June 2017), in Jersey City, New Jersey, New York YIMBY reported in July. New renderings from Hoboken-based architect Marchetto Higgins Stieve show a white, glass curtain wall in a staggered pattern covering a tower with multiple roof setbacks atop a dark, seven-story podium. The development by the Albanese Group will contain 481 residences, 121 parking spots, a 125-seat theater and 14,000 ft2 of additional amenities within a short walk of public transit. Completion is anticipated in 2022.
