ELEVATOR WORLD Associate Editor Kaija Wilkinson recently had the pleasure of taking a cruise on the Carnival Fantasy from EW’s hometown of Mobile, Alabama, to Mexico and couldn’t help but notice the snazzy elevators in the ship’s atrium. The panoramic diamond-shaped conveyances were a popular alternative to a marble staircase for passengers traversing the ship’s multiple floors, and they remained in high demand throughout the five-day cruise. Including this pair of panoramic units, Carnival tells EW that Fantasy has 14 guest elevators, all of which were provided by Schindler Marine. The ship was built by Kvaerner Masa Yards in Helsinki and launched in 1990. It has called Mobile home since November 2016.
