Escalator Slide

You know the urge to slide down an escalator when you see one? No? Well, if you are a child, you can indulge it safely at the McWane Science Center in Birmingham, Alabama. ELEVATOR WORLD Editorial Assistant Hanno van der Bijl took his son, Jeremiah, there to see a model train exhibit. They came across this KONE escalator that had been converted into a slide. Perhaps it was the darkness of the tunnel or all the unsolicited safety education he had received from his father; nevertheless, Jeremiah would not go down the slide, no matter how nice the attendant.

Since 1953, Elevator World, Inc. has been the premier publisher for the global vertical transportation industry. It employs specialists in Mobile, Alabama, and has technical and news correspondents around the world.
