The All Elevator Industry Employers’ Union (TASIS) opening reception was held on October 15, at the Istanbul Mövenpick Hotel with a very high level of participation. Turgay Kuluğ, president of TASİS, made a speech at the opening of the reception and said, “With your support, we will realize the spirit of unionization that has not been done so far in the elevator sector within TASİS.”

The opening reception was moderated by Çetin Ünsalan, the program producer of Endüstri Radyo, and attended by many sector members from different provinces, non-governmental organizations and representatives of official institutions and organizations. TASIS’s aims, objectives and activities were discussed at the opening reception, which was attended by a large number of participants from across Türkiye. Turgay Kuluğ, president of TASİS, made the opening speech at the event, thanking the visitors for their participation and talking about the establishment process of TASİS.
Speaking about the goals of TASİS, Kuluğ said that there is a great interest for a union from the sector. Noting that TASİS was born within the Elevator Industrialists’ Association (ASSDER) and, today, has turned into a huge family with 376 members from every region of Türkiye, Kuluğ said, “From today on, everything in the elevator sector will be as our sector members want. We will produce solutions for the problems experienced in our sector, and we will carry out all kinds of unifying and rehabilitating activities within our organization. With your support, we will realize the spirit of unionization that has not been achieved so far in the lift sector within TASİS.”
Following Kuluğ’s speech, TÜRKAK President Ahmet Gözüküçük stated that the lift is a very important product in our lives and explained TÜRKAK’s activities in the lift industry. Explaining that 113 organizations approved by TÜRKAK currently have activities such as testing and inspection, Gözüküçük said that all of them have been audited.
Gözüküçük was followed by a speech by Levent Taş, member of the Board of Directors of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce. Taş stated that the lift and escalator sector is considered one of the most important inventions in the history of mankind and said that it exhibits a parallel development to the construction sector. Taş noted that lifts, which are indispensable in the construction sector, are a preferred means of transportation by large masses and underlined that the sector has an important share in the country’s employment, economy and production power. In his speech, Taş also talked about the efforts and investments of the Istanbul Chamber of Commerce.
Okur: “You produce and export, and we will provide you with the necessary R&D support”
TUBITAK Marmara Technopolis President Mehmet Ali Okur, in his opening speech following Taş, said that companies have come together in the field of nationalization and made important efforts toward worldwide branding. Noting that the lift sector also follows export activities, Okur said that he hopes that thanks to TASİS, companies will come together and work to increase branding and export activities. Explaining that they are Türkiye’s first technopark with an area of 1 million m2, Okur said, “You produce and export, and we will provide you with the necessary R&D support. You can also benefit from our free zone advantages.”
After the official ribbon cutting following the speeches, a plaque of appreciation was given to the participants and the companies that sponsored the event, followed by a dinner break.
In the second part of the event, representatives from participating companies and representatives from non-governmental organizations and official institutions discussed the problems and developments in the sector. Company representatives from different regions of Türkiye expressed the problems experienced in their regions. Solutions for the problems were shared and actions to be taken were discussed. Speaking at the end of the event, Kuluğ thanked all the participants for attending the event. The reception ended with a collective photo shoot.
