Happy 100th Anniversary of Our Republic

Happy 100th anniversary, in which we crowned the Turkish nation’s struggle for existence throughout its historical journey with the declaration of the Republic. Although a magnificent celebration was not planned by the state as it deserved, except for local governments, our people held onto their republic and celebrated it enthusiastically in the streets. We are here with an issue jam-packed with content, which we prepared for publication with the same enthusiasm. 

Unfortunately, a female student lost her life due to a lift accident in a student dormitory in Aydın toward the end of October.  The protests by students following the accident brought lift safety to the agenda in the country. This issue includes some details regarding the accident. I hope that the importance and severity of lift maintenance were understood, and the relevant administrations are aware of the incident and entrust regular maintenance works to competent companies and specialists.

LiftCity Expo, which has been the first lift expo after a five-year break in Saudi Arabia, the largest economy in the Middle East, was held in Jeddah in early September. The fair held at Hilton Jeddah attracted intense interest from the Chinese and Turkish companies.

SEELift Network congress, which is the only event organized in the Balkan region, was held in the capital of North Macedonia for the third time. There were 13 presentations mainly on earthquake legislation, local regulations and drafts, accreditation in Balkan countries and old lift stock.

KLEEMANN, which is headquartered in Thessaloniki, Greece, and has become a global brand, celebrated its 40th anniversary with hundreds of guests at a magnificent event.

Cars, in other words, the visage of lifts and the only place that the end-users see regarding lifts, are the lift components that are most open to design and innovation. Car Design and Aesthetics, where user-friendliness and accessibility are important, is also the subject of this issue. In this regard, we present various sample project news, from the digital cabins of the historical Galata Tower to the modern design of the Clarion Hotel The Hub in Oslo, to the inherited Lalitha Mahal Palace Hotel in India and the historical lifts in Brussels. Additionally, Muharrem Bilge Çakırer and Süleyman Özcan contributed with their estimable articles.

News of a magnificent panoramic lift built on the steep cliffs of the Nizhu River Valley Ecological Park in Xuanwei City of northeastern China’s Yunnan Province, as well as the WEE Expo held in Shanghai shed light on the size of the industry in China.
