Hello to everyone,
I visited the 11th İzmir Lift Symposium organized on October 17-19 with the support of the İzmir Chamber of Mechanical Engineers and Chamber of Electrical Engineers. We thank all those who contributed.
The symposium was organized in 1993 for the first time, and I also visited it in my first years in the industry, when we all tried to curiously learn everything. As I got along in years (don’t say “got older,” please!) and gained experience, I found the opportunity to use this media for writing what I have seen and heard. This is a point of pride for me.
Let’s get to my opinions about the symposium: In the presentation for hydraulic lifts (Blain), I think the assembly/disassembly of the additional valve group for the Blain hydraulic unit can be considered as a promotion of the product and company, which is outside the symposium’s topic. Although almost 90% of lift installation and usage consists of lifts without machine rooms nowadays, promotion of hydraulic lifts and directly of the brand was a waste of time for the symposium.
Lift components sold after being disassembled from the earthquake region pose another important problem, as brought forward by İ. Menderes Büyüklü from the Ministry of Industry during the symposium. In my opinion, the second-hand purchase and sale of products with no guarantee and even no invoice is equal to involuntary manslaughter (This occurs when the perpetrator acts contrary to the duty and care and fails to foresee the consequences). Criminal action should be taken against persons engaged in the purchase and sale of these products used in lifts, which are known to carry human lives. The following products shared in a Facebook group, just at the same time with the symposium, will explain what I mean. Location: Hatay!
The sellers’ information is hidden in order not to restrict their rights and freedom (If it was up to me, I would share, but unfortunately, we cannot share as to avoid legal problems).
Dear colleagues, please pay no attention to such sales! Human life is not that cheap. And the comments under this post are more upsetting. I know there is a saying we always use: “Willing seller, willing buyer.” But please DO NOT BE the willing buyer in this situation.
Best regards
