New escalators, improvements and easier-to-use products
New Escalator Series
Mitsubishi Electric has released its new S-series escalators, designed for enhanced passenger safety and high-level energy conservation. Safety features include automatic stopping when an object is caught between the comb and step, and optional skirt brushes and step demarcation lighting. A variable-voltage, variable-frequency inverter control (with regenerative converter) is an option for enhancing motor efficiency. Additionally, the unit can detect when no one is riding it, then slow or stop. The escalators are offered with step widths of 1,000, 800 and 600 mm with a rated speed of 30 mpm.
Lift Handrail Fixing System
BeLi Maschinenbau GmbH now offers its patent-pending e-li (short for “easy link”) handrail fixing system for lifts in the U.S. Intended for when handrail installation from inside the cab is required, the product is designed to easily deal with drilling misalignments of ± 5 mm in all directions and requires no reinforcement. The company also offers handrail components; straight, curved, and two- and three-sided handrails; and custom handrails.

Dover Emergency Light Replacement
Mathis Electronics now offers the MES788, a direct replacement for the Dover Elevator emergency light. If you’ve ever attempted to repair a Dover emergency light, you know that it’s a difficult fix at best. Mathis’ two-LED design is intended to make it easy to replace the light, ensure safety standards are met quickly in the field and provide more light than the old bulbs. Replacing Dover part numbers 110938, 110941, 118412 and 9818420, it uses the same voltage and bell but draws less current.
Roller Guide Adapter Plate, Mounting Kit
ELSCO has introduced the Flex-Mount™ Adapter Plate, designed specifically to allow the company’s roller guides to mount on a variety of preexisting bolt patterns, without the need to take accurate measurements or make custom adapter plates. It meets American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) requirements and will be fully commercially available early next month.
ELSCO is also now offering a Mounting Hardware Kit for use with its roller guides and guide shoes. When installed properly, this hardware enables compliance with ASME A17.1-2013. All components are RoHS compliant.
