Dear Elevator World Türkiye readers,
We have left behind quite a busy period since many events that could not be organized at the right time due to COVID-19, which impacted the previous year and continued its impacts at the beginning of this year, were held in the autumn. Firstly, the 73rd NAEC Convention and 2022 Exposition was held on its usual date in September as the most important event of the North American continent. Then, the Liftex fair, which is held in the U.K. once every three years and was postponed to October instead of May, was organized. This was Liftex’s greatest exposition yet, despite the busy agenda and post-pandemic period.
The Lift Expo Italia, which was organized by the Italian National Association of Elevator Components Industries (ANICA) only five days after Liftex, also hosted an assemblage of international visitors. It was postponed twice due to the pandemic conditions and had an intensive attention of participants from Türkiye.
All Elevator Industry Employers’ Union (TASİS) as the first union of the lift and escalator industry took one more important step towards the aim of reaching the whole industry through an opening reception with a keen participation in the middle of October.
In this issue, we will talk about the contributions that Etimesgut Şehit Hasan Gülhan Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School, one of the two schools providing education on Lift Systems in Ankara, made in educating qualified employees for the industry. This precious school keeps our students’ motivation and orientation to the industry at the highest level, particularly through visits to the other educational institutes abroad and the sectoral events.
The focus of the November-December issue, which is the last issue of this year, is Escalators and Moving Walks. You will be able to read about the subject in such articles as Dr. Ali Albadri’s
“Escalator Fractal Behavior,” Ken Smith’s technical article on “Chains in the Vertical Transport (VT) Industry,” as well as the projects in which AKE Asansör -the only escalator manufacturer in our country- took part with Heavy Duty Escalators, and the project news on escalators delivered by TKE for Spain’s Bilbao San Mamés Stadium.
In this issue, you can also read various news on the new products with the Lift Symposium held in Northampton, U.K., “Occupational Accident Chain at Workplaces” by Durmuş Demir, and the Viewpoints articles on the SME’s review of a standardization by EU.
Hope to meet you again in the next issue. Enjoy your reading!
