Riverline, a US$2-billion, multiple-tower residential development on 13 acres on the Chicago riverfront (ELEVATOR WORLD, May 2016) is now two separate projects — one called Riverline by Chicago’s CMK Cos. and the other yet to be named by Australia’s Lendlease, the Chicago Tribune reported. The developers, which had previously joined forces, will continue to use a Perkins + Will master plan, but make their own property mix, financing and construction timeline decisions. CMK takes over the 8-acre parcel south of the Bertrand Goldberg-designed Marina City complex, and Lendlease, the 7-acre portion north of River City Condominiums. The first of five buildings planned by Lendlease, a 29-story apartment tower on South Wells Street, is looking at a summer completion. CMK plans to start construction on a 19-story apartment tower, the first of three, in 2019.
