Canny Elevator Co. presented its latest developments at Asansör Istanbul 2011
For the third time, Canny Elevator Co., Ltd. took part in the Asansör Istanbul International Lift Exhibition on April 14-17 in Turkey (ELEVATOR WORLD, August 2011). Together with its sole Turkish partner, Canny presented its latest achievements to the international elevator market, including its “Lingshow” escalators, which provide users with energy-saving features.
Through joint efforts with its business partner, Canny has found its way into the elevator and escalator markets of Turkey and neighboring countries. Canny provided 30 new heavy-duty escalators for a number of new subway stations (eight units on Sigma Metro Line and 22 units on Oztas Metro Line) in Izmir, Turkey. The solution to accommodate the height of inclined escalators in subways accounts for the successes in bidding for such projects.
To date, Canny has provided 199 escalators for all stations on Suzhou Line 1 in China. In South Korea, 50 units were provided in Seoul Metro stations, 72 units in Daejeon metro stations and 28 in Gwangju metro stations. In addition, 20 outdoor escalators were provided for the BSB overpass system in Izmir. Canny’s R&D and manufacturing facilities are located in east Wujiang of the southern Jiangsu province in China on a 250,000-m2 industrial park. Its workshops are equipped with various types of processing facilities, including welding robots, a Savagnini flexible sheet-metal processing line and 10 on-track assembly lines for escalators and moving walks. Canny’s management team would describe the company as devoted to promoting Chinese national brands in the global elevator industry. Canny has made persistent efforts in innovation and application of new technologies pertaining to elevator and escalator products, such as high-rise escalators, escalators with external step wheels, machine-room-less lifts, integral lift control and long-distance wireless monitoring for individuals with limited mobility.
Canny conducts independent R&D of innovative products based on its own resources and capability, resulting in more than 300 authorized patents to date, most of which are new models for practical use and prototypes. In order to maintain sustainable potential for innovation, Canny has set up long-term cooperation with institutes and universities and established R&D centers with the Building Machinery Branch of China Construction Science Research Institute (state level), Canny Lift Testing Center with Nanjing Industrial University and Canny Academician Work Station with Zhejiang University in addition to running its own R&D center.
Canny’s high-speed lifts reached 3 mps in 2005, 4 mps in 2008, 6 mps in 2009 (installed at Shanghai Sanjing Beizhai in Shanghai with a travel of 240 m) and 7 mps in 2010, all capable of rated loads up to 1600 kg. To facilitate the tests of high-speed installations, Canny’s original 80-m-tall testing tower was modernized to 92 m. Wang Youlin, president of Canny, is focusing on the steady urbanization process in China.
High-rise office and hotel buildings in large Chinese cities have a growing demand for high-speed elevators, most of which are imported from suppliers in developed countries. However, Canny is playing a role in the developed elevator industry of China by taking a share in the high-speed elevator market and providing equipment for high-rise buildings. In September 2010, one of the first 7- mps lifts developed in China passed the assessment by the National Elevator Inspection and Testing Center. Witnessing strict testing and examination processes, the experts and professionals agreed that Canny’s KLK2/VF1600/7.0, met the requirements specified by The Rules for Elevator Type Testing and issued a certificate for production.
With continued business growth since its founding in 1997, Canny has been innovating and reforming its operation and management systems toward higher efficiency. This process has accelerated since March 2010, when the company was listed in the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. Today, the company organizations are streamlined into the escalator manufacturing, elevator manufacturing, R&D, logistics and distribution centers apart from the company headquarters. To date, Canny has set up three new component-supplying companies in China, two in Suzhou and one in Zhongshan, Guangdong province.
According to statistics by the China Industrial Information Issuing Center (an authorized source shared by China’s major public media), Canny products ranked among the best selling for elevator and escalator categories in the Chinese market in 2010. Canny has received this recognition for six consecutive years.
According to Richard Zhu, global marketing executive, Canny will continue to provide users around the world with products that have higher reliability and quality and will consistently pursue long-term customer satisfaction. Canny takes part in all major international elevator expos in order to present its products to the global elevator industry.
