The Hitachi MRL elevator has a load capacity of 450-1600 kg (6-21 persons) and a rated speed of 60-105 mpm.

MRL units lead the way in innovations.

New MRL Traction Elevator for 2-3 Stories

Schindler has launched its Schindler 3100 machine-room-less (MRL) traction elevator for two-to-three-story buildings in the U.S. Designed to easily fit into the footprint of a hydraulic elevator and replace such units, it can allow for more usable building and design space by eliminating the need for a machine room or control closet. Multi-bus control architecture eliminates much cabling, as well. Its gearless machine with stable starting is designed to save energy, and a frequency converted with emergency evacuation allows the car to return safely to the nearest floor in the event of a power outage.

Billed as smoother and quieter than hydraulic units, the 3100 boasts cabs 5% larger than the average MRL elevator cab. Its Italian cab design and finishes are intended to fit any style or building décor. In addition, each unit is equipped with Schindler Direct, what the company calls “a proactive maintenance tool that monitors the system 24/7 and helps return equipment to service up to 22% faster than traditional troubleshooting methods.” This system can remotely note a potential power outage so it can be locally addressed before the building is affected.

Urethane Handrail with Safety Messages

EHC Global has launched its NT SafeRail for the worldwide market. Featuring permanent and vandalism-resistant safety messages to encourage safe and responsible escalator use, the handrails can be installed on new or existing escalators and moving walks. Developed by EHC, the NT thermoplastic urethane handrail platform is an environmentally-friendly and technologically advanced alternative to conventional rubber-based products. Available in a wide range of sizes and colors, the handrail is recyclable and easy to clean. Designers and operators can select a preconfigured safety message or design their own graphics to meet local code requirements, language and/or branding considerations.

The company stated SafeRail was engineered to maximize passenger safety, accessibility and traffic flow for both indoor and outdoor applications. Its first appearance in healthcare facilities has already been made by its retrofit on the units at the Lakeridge Health hospital in Oshawa, Canada.

Hitachi’s MRL Elevator for Asia, Middle East

Hitachi has launched a new machine-room-less (MRL) elevator for Asia and the Middle East that will be released gradually across countries in both regions. Developed in Japan, the UAG series SN1 (for catalog sales) and OUG series ON1 (for order sales) is equipped with electronic safety technology, regenerative power operation, LEDs and a deodorizing ion generator. Hitachi states since it has been designed with the Asian and Middle Eastern markets in mind (rather than being adapted from other markets as its previous models have been), it will enable faster and more flexible services.

The safety employs a new microcomputer control system, the same technology used to control Hitachi’s ultra-high-speed elevators that run at 1,200 mpm. Infrared door sensors also notify users that the doors are closing. It is offered with several car ceiling designs and LCD displays.
