The Turkish Elevator Industrialists Federation (TASFED) met in Mersin on November 3-4, 2023, to discuss the industry and regional problems.
The TASFED Ordinary Board of Directors meeting started with an opening speech from Federation President Yusuf Atik on November 3. After the members of the Board of Directors expressed the problems experienced in their cities, the sample maintenance contract draft prepared by TASFED was discussed over articles as the main agenda item. Members and the federation’s lawyer expressed their opinions while evaluating the content and legal conditions of the maintenance contract. Board Member İbrahim Özçakır and Vice President Cem Bozdağ answered questions from members.
Vocational high school projects carried out jointly with the Ministry of Education to address the issue of trained personnel were discussed. The importance of running the industry accurately and profitably was mentioned. Disruptions experienced during maintenance were put on the agenda, while the lift accident in Aydın was also evaluated. As part of the maintenance contracts, the responsibilities of the municipality and site/apartment managers, in addition to elevator maintenance companies, were explained. The importance of raising the awareness of lift companies, as well as building managers and users, was discussed. The benefits of public service announcements were emphasized. It was expressed that goods lifts are at least as important as building lifts, and the need for inspection is great. It was emphasized that increasing the number of association members and awareness of the Federation contributed to effective solutions to the industry’s problems.
At the end of the first day, Federation members and Mersin Association board members met for dinner at Cemil Baba restaurant.
The meeting continued with Mersin Elevator Industrialists Association Members and TASFED board members the next day. Following the speeches of Mersin Elevator Industrialists Association President Muzaffer Hızarcı and Federation President Yusuf Atik, the participants introduced themselves. The Mersin Site Managers Association also attended the meeting. National, regional and industrial problems were expressed. The issue of increasing participation in the meetings and the power of the Federation were emphasized.
TASFED Manager Gülay Pala talked about the workshops and trainer training projects organized within the protocol signed by TASFED and the Ministry of National Education.
Federation Deputy Chairman Cem Bozdağ made a presentation on TS EN 13015 Rules for Maintenance and Maintenance Instructions of Lifts and Escalators. Then, he illustrated how efficient maintenance cost calculation should be done.
After the question-and-answer session, the president thanked the participants and meeting sponsor Özcan Toprak and gave a closing speech. Following the meeting, participants observed the lift built in the 70-m-deep sinkhole called Cennet (Heaven) during a trip to the Cennet-Cehennem caves in Silifke district.
