Shanghai BST wraps up a successful WEE Expo with a magical boat cruise along the Pearl River in Guangzhou, China.
Shanghai BST Electronic Co., Ltd. presented a fresh look at the 11th World Elevator & Escalator (WEE) Expo 2014 held at the grand China Import & Export Fair complex in Guangzhou, China, on May 13-16 (ELEVATOR WORLD, September 2014). The global electric and electronic component supplier’s 350-m2 booth was its biggest since first participating in the WEE Expo in the late 1990s.
The booth featured Shanghai BST’s traditional white, blue and yellow color configuration, along with a spacious, visitor-friendly conversation area, where business partners and customers from all parts of the world could relax from their tours through the show halls and enjoy talking business with BST staff over coffee. Varied BST components and system packages were on display, including such novel designs as the streamlined, ultra-thin (10 mm thick) series of car panels BCG311 and BXG311 push buttons.
With continued efforts over the past decade or so, the younger generations of Shanghai BST have managed to maintain and increase customer confidence in the company’s products. In an effort to provide excellent, timely service, every salesperson is responsible for his or her customers on a long-term basis. In the event a problem occurs with a product or during the supply process, the salesperson will strive to achieve timely solutions through communication. According to Shanghai BST, such after-sales service makes clients feel safe and secure.
Shelley Zhou, general manager of International Business, pays frequent visits to customers and business partners on various continents, listening to them to gain input for future improvements. The friendly communication between BST and its clients helps BST learn about the latest changes and trends in different markets. This, in turn, proves helpful to R&D, which can create new designs based on such feedback.
With great pleasure, Elevator World, Inc. Vice President and Chief Operating Officer
T.Bruce MacKinnon and your reporter were invited to a tour onboard the “Colorful Dream”-themed river-cruise boat hosted by Shanghai BST, a get-together amazing to all who participated. A corporate tradition Shanghai BST has upheld since early WEE events, a dinner party brought together customers, business partners and honored guests on day two of the WEE Expo. Attendees were greeted with a smile before boarding the boat, receiving a lighted wristband, the color of which identified the team to which he or she would belong in a prize drawing.
As the boat engine roared to life at approximately 5 p.m., the activities started. Zhou welcomed everyone onboard, showing special concern for children who had come with their parents. The river tour allowed everyone to enjoy a wonderful view of Guangzhou along the Pearl River from twilight into nightfall. As the setting sun trailed away and the gray sky turned dark, the TV tower, buildings of various heights and shapes, bridges overhead and boats sailing past sparkled with colorful lights.
As a slideshow featuring sand drawings played on the front screen of the cabin, a presentation on BST’s corporate culture and how it has helped make employees’ colorful dreams come true and grow the company was given. As a global elevator component supplier, BST regards employees as key to staying competitive. Having comprehensive capabilities is the foundation for the company’s sustainable development, so it holds regular, ongoing training to raise and improve employees’ competence and skill levels, starting from the day a person joins the company.
BST also provides opportunities for career development, so employees may pursue their personal dreams and feel celebrated for working many years for the company. Today, BST’s younger generations have taken the reins from the hands of its founders, such as Zhao Jinrong. Zhu Xiaodi, Wang Jianjun, Zhou and Lansing Nee, to name only a few, have been playing active roles in the corporate goal “to pursue the best.” Guests were impressed by the sand drawings and artistic performances, which were interwoven with the prize drawing. Laughter broke out as the interactive activities entertained participants who ate, talked and toasted. Hours elapsed as everyone aboard enjoyed the night scene on the river. When the boat pulled over to the bank with a full moon shedding light on the ripples, both hosts and guests felt reluctant to tear themselves away from the event but said good-bye to one another, leaving with unforgettable memories.
