Melbourne Quarter was designed by Fender Katsalidis of Australia.

Officials in Melbourne, Australia, have approved a trio of towers that will include nearly 1,700 residences in the heart of the city’s central business district, World Architecture News reported. The first building in Melbourne Quarter will be the 40-story residential East Tower at 628 Flinders Street containing one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments. Lendlease is the developer, and Fender Katsalidis of Australia is the architect. More than half of the 2.5-ha site will be devoted to public space, and the project will aim for the highest environmental ratings. Melbourne Quarter is adjacent to a bustling commercial area, which Lendlease believes will attract those who want to live close to work.
